Our Second Alex Sanchez Stamping Class: A Hands-On Learning Experience

Back in November, we had the honor of hosting our second stamping class with Alex Sanchez, and it was another unforgettable experience. This class brought together artists from near and far to learn Alex’s distinctive stamping style, gain hands-on experience, and deepen their understanding of traditional jewelry techniques.

In this post, we’re walking you through what happened during the class, highlighting the tools students used, and sharing resources for anyone interested in learning stamping themselves. All tools and supplies mentioned below are available in-store or online at Thunderbird Supply Co.

If you’d like to see the full, in-depth walkthrough of the class, be sure to check out the video on our YouTube channel. Just search “Thunderbird Supply Co.” or click here to watch it.

About the Class

The class focused on Alex’s approach to stamping, surface texture, and finishing techniques. Students had the opportunity to observe live demonstrations and then apply what they learned through hands-on practice. From proper hammer control to understanding metal behavior, Alex covered both the technical and artistic sides of stamping.

One of the most valuable aspects of the class was Alex’s emphasis on process—not just the final result. He shared tips, personal insights, and problem-solving techniques that students could immediately apply to their own work.

Recommended Metal Cuts for Beginners

Choosing the right metal cuts can make a big difference when you’re just starting out. These are the cuts we recommend for beginners practicing stamping:

Metal Cuts:

  • Bracelets:
    • Three cuts at 1” wide
  • Pendants:
    • Three pieces cut at 1” x 2”

These sizes are manageable, versatile, and great for building confidence as you learn.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this class a success—from Alex, to the students, to our community that continues to support hands-on learning and traditional craftsmanship. Stay tuned for more classes, workshops, behind-the-scenes content, and educational resources. We can’t wait to share what’s next.
